Jasmine rice is a long-grain rice originally from Thailand with a slightly sticky texture when cooked - not as sticky as sushi rice, but softer and more tender than regular long-grain white rice. It has that gorgeous floral aroma and a subtly sweet flavour that regular white rice doesn't have. This is why it's the preferred rice for curries and Thai or Vietnamese dishes - it complements aromatic, spicy flavours perfectly and has just enough stickiness to be easy to eat with chopsticks or a fork.
