Gentle Nourishment in a Bowl – Made by Lou with Love
Lou’s chicken and rice soup is the kind of honest comfort food that’s perfect when you need something soothing and nourishing. Slow-cooked chicken pieces are simmered with tender rice in a healing broth made from organic chicken stock, onion, celery, garlic, and fresh herbs. A touch of lemon lifts the flavours, creating a light yet satisfying soup that’s easy to digest and gentle on the stomach – ideal for recovery, winter colds, or when you just need something wholesome and warming.
Similar to a traditional congee but with more texture, this recipe proves that simple ingredients often make the best meals. The rice softens beautifully in the broth, the chicken stays tender, and the balanced herbs bring it all together. Frozen into convenient portions, it’s ready to heat and enjoy within minutes – a perfect sick-day essential, an easy weeknight dinner, or a nourishing lunch you’ll look forward to. No preservatives, no shortcuts, just honest, homemade goodness prepared with care by Lou.

I am a country girl and my love of produce lives with me everyday. I have been cooking from a very young age, guided at first by the skillful and resourceful knowledge of my Mother and then through prolific exploration of food markets, of cooking and nutrition books, learning new techniques, experimenting with ingredients, learning the science of changes with heat and combining ingredients, the art of flavours.
