Cynthia's Dutch Croquettes

2 items left

Dutch croquettes are a popular Indo-Dutch snack. They are deep fried balls of mashed potato filled with a savoury beef and veg mince, coated in egg and fine bread crumbs. After frying, the bread crumb on the outside is crunchy and the savoury filling inside is soft and fluffy and full of flavour!

These croquettes are a perfectly example of an acculturation between Dutch and Indonesian cuisine and culture. It is a recipe passed down from my grandmother who used to cook lots of Indo-Dutch dishes and passed these onto my mother.
One of my motivations and passions for cooking is to create an increased awareness of the little-known but super delicious Indo-Dutch cuisine.
