Anize's Bitterballen - Dutch Croquettes (12)

Title: 12 Bitterballen

"I don’t think there’s anything I miss more about living in the Netherlands than Bitterballen! My Dutch partner misses them even more than I do, which is what inspired me to learn how to make them. After countless experiments and tweaks, I’m really proud of this recipe - it might even be better than some of the Bitterballen we’ve had back in the Netherlands!"

If you've never had them, Bitterballen are Dutch deep-fried snacks, similar to croquettes. They are round, bite-sized and filled with slow cooked beef, rolled into balls, coated in breadcrumbs, and deep-fried until crispy and golden brown.

They are typically served as a bar snack in the Netherlands, often accompanied by mustard for dipping and enjoyed with a cold beer. They are undeniably addictive!
