My version of Butter Chicken showcases morsels of slow cooked smokey chicken, simmered in a silky, creamy sauce of tomatoes scented with fenugreek and cardamom.
Butter chicken brings in one of the fondest food memories of my childhood. I grew up eating various versions of butter chicken with an array of accompaniments, but loved this one version from a restaurant we would visit regularly. To date every time I go back home to India, one evening is dedicated to eating butter chicken from the very same restaurant. I am excited to share with you a version of Butter Chicken so close to my heart.
Spice Level: Mildly Spicy - it has a little heat 🌶
Contains: Milk and Milk Products, Tree nuts and tree nut products other than coconut from the fruit of the palm
Ingredients: canola oil, ginger, garlic, salt, sugar, cream , butter, yoghurt, gram flour, chilli , turmeric, coriander dried , fresh coriander, fenugreek leaves, cardamom, cinnamon, cashew nuts , ketchup
Reheating Instructions: Defrost overnight and re-heat in a microwave or in a pan until the core temperature of the chicken reaches 75 degree C and is heated through thoroughly. You may add a bit of water to thin down the sauce to your liking.
There is so much flavor in this dish, better than most butter chicken’s I’ve tried. It is going to be added to my weekly rotation for sure!
