Baba de camelo is a light and airy mousse made with dulce de leche. It is more lightly set than other mousses, and can be enjoyed as a traditional mousse dessert, or eaten straight from the freezer, just like ice-cream! This dessert is a very popular dessert in Portugal, found in tascas (typical Portuguese restaurants) across the country. When we lived in Portugal, this was one of our favourites, and eating it now always reminds us of eating out in our local neighbourhood.

Hi, I'm Elicia!
I’m an assistant principal at a Sydney CBD school, and in my spare time I cook traditional Portuguese desserts. I met my husband living in Portugal and bonded with his family over food as his Grandmother taught me how to make amazing Portuguese desserts. I make them now as a way of staying connected with her and the rest of our family overseas, and I add in my own style and flavours to make them truly unique.

This stuff is seriously good. The husband and I were fighting over the last few mouthfuls. Best enjoyed hiding in the kitchen away from the kids so you don’t have to share.
